Time to end this thread now, I'll make a "Winter 2022/23" thread to use until the season begins
It’s all quiet on here recently, let’s hope the park gives us something to talk about soon
The park gates will be open this Saturday 5th to allow people to park and walk through to the rugby pitch to watch their firework display.
Let's hope this closed season brings some serious changes...
Very wet and quiet start to the day on park today
The carousel is actually in operation . Which is good news for this half term week, leaving just rattlesnake out.
Wonder if they are refurbishing the carousel now before they go on there break because they know they have something new coming in the new year. Really hope the wave swinger gets a refurb it’s more then needed. Ponies could do with some fake hay bales to go with the hurdles and safari needs a lot of work. I’m not sure we will see cannonball open again.
So the carousel is off for a refurb, ok fair enough yet could this not have waited another 4 weeks. As assumingly we will have cannonball closed and now another for the half term, it leaves even less to do than ever
I visited the park today. Beautiful weather and the car park was full (wouldn’t have been with a parking attendant) but still nice to see. It’s strange because it is still the school holidays and the park was busy but some of the food kiosks weren’t open (Roosters, so nothing down the bottom, Amigoes and kiosk near the kids rides.) shame also that the Circus stopped on August 31st. Seems a strange date, Wednesday with 4 more summer holiday days.
Cannonball wasn’t running unfortunately but everything else was and the park atmosphere was great.
spending A lot of time in the kids area the Old woody’s driving school is derelict and looking worse for wear. i know this was a pay to play attraction but shame it’s just sitting there not being used. The footprint would be great for a small toddler coaster.
The Safari is starting to look great tbf with the vegetation really grown up now. But my goodness the animals may as well be thrown away as they look terrible. snake half fallen over, paint jobs non existent on them. A simple refurb or new animals would make that ride a really great experience!
everything else looked good. Still using the exit as entrance in RTTT. Not much of an issue but the great ride audio still plays in the now exit tunnel. The scoreboard wasn’t working properly either. An on cart system like Duel would be so much better.
all in all park was really tidy. Overhead a lady saying it’s so run down but I just can’t see it. Sure there are some area but my goodness she was standing next to the excellently refurbed plane Ride!
Parrot show was also great fun, and we paid for my daughter to hold the parrot which was a great photo op (made me think maybe that was what the petting zoo licence was for)
can’t wait for improvements for 40 years. Gotta happen surely!
I have absolutely no issue at all with the mazes remaining the same, I'm just happy that they're still doing a full on Halloween event including mazes.
And I agree, that promo video is great!
Under Luke Martin photography on Facebook some aireal shots of the park taken today, car park looks healthy with a fair amount of cars.
Dive show minus the tower intact, yet you can see that side particular how much spare land there is...
Also you can see tidal wave is finally nice and gleaming.
Road signs up on the a47 to advise of the trucks this Sunday have been up for a few days now.
This made me laugh
I’d personally not want the looping group to invest next year in a new ride. I think the park numbers next year will be really good with the park’s anniversary. I feel like if we was to get a new ride next season the owners would be expecting numbers to go up. I think next season would be better with nothing new then the group might realise that the park still has a great future then hopefully the following season will be the beginning of a number of seasons with new rides
I wonder of Ronnie and Clarence will be back for the 4oth? I'm wondering if we'll get that elusive 2nd train for cannonball, kinda tired of all the excuses it's not like loopings can't afford it. Yikes are we really 40 next year?
Just back from a great family day out at Pleasurewood Hills!
I was really impressed overall at the refurb work that has been taking place this year, the Main Street, Funky Flyers and PWH express look amazing.
Perhaps excitingly I noticed that there is pipework in the WFF where the water tower is meant to go, could it finally be coming? I was also pleased to have Wavebreaker and Chairlifts both open today which was a surprise!
Sadly I didn’t get to see the Circus but from what I could see it looked really good.
Chatting to a member of staff, it is clear that as much as the park management want a new ride, they are simply not given the funding.
I also liked the new signs in the Eggspress queue saying how long was left, a really nice touch! Has a new roof been put on the actual Cannonball station as I don’t remember the station getting done last year. CB also closed early in the day- is this a regular procedure?
I had taken many pictures of all the things above yet sadly ’computer says no’ and I’m not able to upload them.
Overall a great day at PWH and we will be returning!
Anyone got use to this new forum style? it still find it annoying but maybe im the only one.
The wooden steps on Wipeout have been replaced with some metal steps and a random section of red fencing. The queue line for Wipeout is in a pretty poor condition tbh. All the ropes have been removed so there's just loads of posts dotted about. Lots of the rope that's still there has frayed quite badly too.
The one downside to the really nice refurbished areas is that they make other bits of the park look really run down. What doesn't help with Wipeout is all the wood that's unpainted, so it can look quite drab in comparison.
Hopefully with all that wood that can be seen, there will soon be a new queue line for Wipeout, along with a freshen up for the whole ride area.
One thing that I forgot to mention is that WFF was operating with only 3 boats. Its summer and its hot, so it's a pretty popular ride at the moment, and I just cannot understand why they would only run it with 3 boats.
All the water pumps, lift hill motors and kicker wheels are constantly running, so other than the small wear and tear of the boat itself, it's not saving any operating costs.
Great to see the park improving the looks on the different rides/shops. Hopefully next year they will do something with the sweet shop and kite flyer and then the whole parks been somewhat refreshed!
The detailing in the paintwork on main street is fantastic. Just like the craftsmen with their wood, there are some real artists with a paint brush at the park!
The train is also looking the best it has ever has done (in my opinion)
Looks like small improvements are still ongoing around the park, as I've just seen a recent picture which shows more new paint, this time on the RTTT building. Some nice detailing on it too.
The flyers look bust! I agree Cameron it's doubtful we will see anything new for 2023, I say it each time it would be wonderful yet its highly unlikely. Its a little odd the circus was bought in when we have two show areas SBNO yet its been placed on what was a very ugly empty site so that's something they did notice at least.
And one isn't enough ride wise !
My review from today’s visit. I normally go on the last day of the season when they do the fireworks but today I decided to go on a sunny day instead of a cold wet day. feels like somethings changed the feel around the park feels a lot better feels like there has been a big shift in energy around the place, lots of improvements around the park and it’s but far the cleanest of seen it. I’ve taken some photos that I will share. The new circus is a great fit and when getting on the car park you can see it it looks great. I noticed that the pirate ship supports have been painted. Jolly could do with a paint up I don’t like the current look, would look better if they added some fake haybales to the ponies and had some contactless toilets and sinks in the bathrooms. I don’t think we will see any nee rides next year I think we could the year afterwards with next year being the parks anniversary I think we will continue to see more projects.
Yeah it looks like it's going to suit the area a lot better than Fireball did!
I really wouldn't mind this being a permanent addition, but it would need to be actually permanent all season long, not just for summer.
Circus coming along nicely
😫 this new forum layout is frustrating. I don't like it.
I wonder what's happening with rhe Funky Fliers? It's a shame that they never continue with the updates on the little projects around the park, they post a couple of photos when a new project starts, then thats it, we never any more about it which is a shame.
Also, weird change for the forum now, I've never had scroll up to read comments in ascending order 😆
The truckers convoy will return this August.
I wouldn't say there's that many at all tbh. For once PWH have done something that's received mostly positive comments! 😆
Far too many comments on Facebook and Instagram focus on new rides...you can't get away from that... yes this is a welcome addition yet it won't bring enough people in it will merley enhance the day for people already going.
If you missed the radio interview earlier, you can now listen again (The conversation begins at 31 minutes):
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0c9hb32
cool, soon as i saw it was a circus i knew it was going to be a big top on the old fireball site Isn't that where the previous one went) a nice replacement for for the dive show.. in fact it's much better than the dive show. Love the circus so i get a bit fanboy about it lol so excellent news. And as you say a week ago all we expected with a few paint jobs.
Confirmarion during the Radio Norfolk interview that the Circus Big Top will be sited on the former Fireball site.
@Cameron I take your point that visitors could "go down the road" for a Circus show, but I do think this is a positive move for the park.
You could equally argue that you don't have to go far for a better rollercoaster, but I think this decision is more about creating a more complete, full day experience for guests.
Many of us recall the glory days of the park back in the 90s, and this feels like a nostalgic nod to that. The Superhuman Circus used to pitch up in the summer months, do their thing and then move on.
Back then, the entertainment was a big part of the PWH experience. For me, this feels like a return to their roots.
Something I guess yet as to be expected.
Ah OK. Makes sense I guess as all they've done is hired in a travelling circus for the 6 weeks, much less of a head ache for them to do something like that. I guess it will go where Hungry Bears used to be.
I imagine the tent is just for the illustration purposes, it will probably go in the castle theatre.
I was expecting a show for the summer but we’re the heck is this tent going, well all the exciting build up for a circus what was the thinking behind that I don’t know, if people want a circus there going to go to GY
I think regardless of what it is, just having something "new" brings people in.
No I agree...yet it needs to bring people in . Simple.
Alright let's not condem it before we find out what it is! 😆
Even if it is something that I'm not interested in, so long as it does the park good, then that's all that matters.
After all, this time last week, we had no idea about anything new coming for this year, and I don't even any of us would have expected anything to, either. So it's a bonus!
Certainly has been a lot of hype for what could be something really uneventful.
As much as I would love for that to be the case, I don't think these cartoon images have ever really had other park objects in the back ground, they've just focused on the ride on the image really.
Either way, it's been nice to have a week of speculation!
Surely for the return of the dive show they would just do one post to say something like "the dive show is back for summer 2022!"
I'm just trying to convince myself that it will be a ride ok 😆
Here's a question, do you think that they would build up so much hype for just the return of the dive show?
Also, what's happened to the funky fliers?! 😆
