I was thinking recently (a lot of time for that at the moment) that the arcade in main street is a really let down to the park. Have any of you been in recently?
I went in during the Chills event last year and must admit that the place has seen better days, was completely empty (apart from us obviously) and the machines/games are very dated.
I'd be interested to hear what your opinions of it are - could the space be used for anything else? And does it actually get used much throughout the season?
Theme parks having a dated (but not old enough to be cool) arcade is like a staple thing everywhere. Towers has plenty 😆 Would be nice to see it as a shop really.
It all seems like a bit of wasted space to me. The seating area for the restaurant which adjoins the arcade is also a bit shabby and doesn’t really give off a good vibe. There‘a slso a little mini arcade next to Rootin‘ Tootin.
I think they have their place but they need to be clean and modern which the main one really isn’t in my opinion.
I like Bubbles idea of a mirror maze in that building, something fun and simple.
That arcade with the then capones coffee shop attached was ace. Was always so busy complete with change booth too !!
Arcades still seem really popular with kids, especially retro ones,, but at a theme park i'm not sure how much they get used, dated, old machines are exactly what is wanted... i see young kids loving space invaders but that only works if you go all in with the theme and buying and sourcing these old machines is very expensive. I doubt it's worth any theme park to bother as people don't go to a theme park to play arcade machines. Maybe scraped all together and put something else it it's place.. some like on of those mirror mazes (if they're still a thing) or another indoor play zone, would be a good spot for a 4d cinema thing?
